Above Food is led by visionary founders and a veteran leadership team with extensive experience across the food production ecosystem

Lionel Kambeitz

CEO & Executive Chairman

Lionel’s love of food and agriculture runs in the family.

A fifth-generation farmer, Lionel Kambeitz grew up around the agricultural industry that was the family business.

His childhood experiences gave him an appreciation for healthy, high-quality food and ingredients, and Lionel has carried that with him throughout his long career in the food industry, founding and managing companies that provide sustainable food products.

Throughout his four-decade career in agriculture, manufacturing, energy and process design, Lionel has led many private companies in the U.S. and Canada, as well as several public Canadian companies.

Lionel’s career established him as a veteran Canadian entrepreneur and international business developer. He drew on all his experience to co-found Above Food Corps., where he serves as CEO and Executive Chairman.

He and his three fellow co-founders created Above Food as a fully vertically integrated company that gives consumers the opportunity to follow their food’s journey “from seed to fork.”

With Above Food, Lionel wants to create food products that are better for the environment and better for people.

But it’s not Lionel’s first food products company. He has also founded and led many other companies, like the KF Group of Companies, including KF Kambeitz Farms Inc., Kambeitz Agri Inc., KF Kambeitz Land Corp., KF Aggregates Recycling Inc., KF Solar Electric, KF Homestead Properties Inc. and KF Rail Ports Corp.

Lionel also founded Delta CleanTech Inc., an ESG-driven, Identity Preserved Waste (IPW) Solutions company, where he serves as chairman. The company provides solutions for the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) needs of corporations with industry-leading CO2 Capture and Industrial Fluids Reclaiming Technology Solutions.

When he’s not working on innovations for the food industry, Lionel likes to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He takes them to the wide open spaces of his family’s 5th-Generation farm, established in 1899 outside of Regina, Saskatchewan.
